Authors retain copyright of their work. To support the costs of publishing, Article Processing Charges (APCs) are applied only after an article has been accepted for publication.
Publication Charges (APC)
WJGH follows an open-access model, making all content freely available.
Author-funded fees: USD 1219–2919 depending on article type.
Fees are non-refundable once accepted and APC is paid.
These charges help cover essential publishing services, including plagiarism screening to ensure originality, peer review and editorial assessment by subject experts, proofreading and copyediting, professional typesetting and formatting in PDF and HTML formats, assignment of identifiers such as DOI, CrossMark, and ORCID, permanent online hosting, and indexing in relevant databases and reference services.
There are no submission fees and no additional fees based on article length, number of figures, or supplementary materials. Full APCs are invoiced only after final acceptance. Many authors receive institutional or university funding to cover these costs. In some cases, independent researchers, authors in hardship regions, or those from low- and middle-income countries may be considered for partial Discount.
World Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy accepts payments in Euro (EUR) and US Dollars (USD). Once an article is accepted, the corresponding or submitting author receives an invoice and payment link, with the option to choose the preferred billing currency.
Available payment methods include:
Wire transfer in Euro
Wire transfer in US Dollars
Online payment via PayPal
Offline card payment by securely providing card details via email or phone
World Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy states that customer card information is treated as strictly confidential and is not stored digitally after processing. Invoices are generally payable within 4–7 business days.
For wire transfers, authors are responsible for both sender and recipient bank charges to ensure the full invoiced amount is received. Authors based in Hungary may also be subject to local Value Added Tax (VAT).
A portion of World Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy’s revenue is used for journal promotion and outreach activities, including sponsorship of conferences, workshops, online advertising, Google Scholar visibility, indexing initiatives, and distribution of promotional materials such as brochures and flyers.
The publication process includes initial manuscript assessment, reviewer assignment, peer review coordination, communication of reviewer comments to authors, revision management, copyediting, XML/PDF/HTML production, English-language editing for accepted papers, final proofreading, and pre-publication checks.
Additionally, World Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy maintains a dedicated indexing relations team that works with major databases, monitors journal eligibility requirements, submits applications, and stays updated on evolving indexing criteria and procedures.
Withdrawal Policy
Withdrawal of a manuscript after it has entered the editorial or peer review stage may result in applicable processing charges, as the journal allocates significant time, expertise, and operational resources to manuscript evaluation. This policy is established to ensure the efficient functioning of the publication process and to uphold the journal’s quality standards and reputation. Authors are advised to make submission decisions carefully, as withdrawal at advanced stages may affect editorial workflow and reviewer coordination. By submitting a manuscript, authors acknowledge and agree to the journal’s terms and conditions, including policies related to withdrawal. In cases of non-compliance, the journal reserves the right to take appropriate administrative or legal action in accordance with applicable regulations and publishing standards.
Withdrawal after peer review or publication incurs a fee of USD 919.
Once APC is paid, fees are non-refundable.
