The World Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy™ (WJGHE) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal committed to publishing high-quality case reports and clinical images from across the medical sciences. The journal welcomes submissions from professionals in medicine, surgery, nursing, dentistry, and veterinary sciences. 

All accepted articles are published online promptly and made freely available worldwide, ensuring unrestricted access to valuable clinical knowledge. 

 

Our Aims 

WJGHE is dedicated to: 

  • Providing a trusted platform for reporting rare, unusual, and educational clinical cases. 
  • Improving understanding of diseases, diagnosis, and treatment outcomes. 
  • Sharing important clinical findings with healthcare professionals globally. 
  • Maintaining a rigorous peer-review process through evaluation by at least three independent reviewers. 
  • Supporting rapid publication, with accepted manuscripts typically published within 2–4 weeks. 

 

Scope of the Journal 

We publish case reports and clinical images that: 

  • Describe rare diseases or uncommon presentations. 
  • Present innovative treatment strategies or management approaches. 
  • Highlight unexpected outcomes or important learning points. 
  • Contribute to medical education, patient care, and future research. 

Submissions are welcomed from clinicians, academicians, and researchers worldwide, regardless of institution or geographic location.

WJGHE follows a fully open-access publishing model, meaning:

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY-SA) License, allowing authors to retain copyright while permitting responsible reuse with proper attribution. 

 

Peer Review Process 

To ensure scientific quality and integrity, every manuscript undergoes a transparent peer-review process: 

  1. Initial Screening – Manuscripts are checked for formatting, completeness, and relevance to journal scope. 
  1. Reviewer Assignment – Suitable experts are invited to review the submission. 
  1. Peer Review – Reviewers evaluate originality, scientific quality, ethics, and clinical relevance. 
  1. Editorial Decision – Authors receive a decision: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. 
  1. Revision Stage – Authors respond to reviewer comments and resubmit revised manuscripts. 
  1. Final Acceptance & Publication – Once approved, the article is published online promptly.

Editorial Board Responsibilities 

Our Editorial Board is composed of experienced clinicians and researchers who are responsible for: 

  • Reviewing manuscripts fairly and objectively. 
  • Ensuring timely and efficient peer review. 
  • Upholding ethical publishing standards. 
  • Guiding journal growth, quality, and policy development. 

 

Conflict of Interest Policy 

Transparency is essential in scholarly publishing. 

  • Authors must include a Conflict of Interest statement in every manuscript, even if no conflicts exist. 
  • Reviewers must decline review invitations if any conflict may affect objectivity. 
  • Editors must avoid handling submissions where conflicts exist. 

 

Plagiarism & Academic Integrity 

WJGHE has zero tolerance for plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical academic practices. 

  • All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin and iThenticate. 
  • Manuscripts showing significant overlap with previously published work may be rejected immediately. 

 

Ethical Approval & Informed Consent 

Human Studies 

Research involving human participants must: 

  • Follow the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. 
  • Receive approval from an Institutional Ethics Committee or IRB. 
  • Include statements confirming ethical approval and informed consent. 

Animal Studies 

Research involving animals must: 

  • Follow institutional and national animal welfare regulations. 
  • Comply with recognized standards such as ARRIVE and CPCSEA guidelines. 
  • Include ethical approval and welfare compliance statements. 

Patient Consent for Case Reports 

For case reports and clinical images: 

  • Written informed consent must be obtained from patients or legal guardians. 
  • Consent must cover publication of clinical details and images in open-access format. 
  • Patient identity must remain protected through anonymization. 

 

Corrections, Retractions & Editorial Notes 

To maintain trust and transparency, WJGHE may publish: 

  • Corrections for minor factual or production errors. 
  • Retractions for serious ethical breaches, falsified data, or duplicate publication. 
  • Expressions of Concern when integrity issues are under investigation. 

All notices are clearly labeled and linked to the original article. 

 

Data Sharing & Transparency 

Authors are encouraged to support reproducibility by providing:

  • Detailed methods 
  • Data availability statements
